Dr. Edwards is a Professor of Kinesiology (Occupational Therapy, School of Education), and of Medicine and Neurology (School of Medicine and Public Health) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also directs the Collaborative Center for Health Equity in the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.
Her research exemplifies our discipline-spanning interest in novel approaches to complex and interacting disorders with disparate impacts on patients, their families, communities, and on understudied populations, along with approaches that could accelerate research across disciplines and translational stages. Her work spans the domains of aging, cognitive and physical impairment, functional independence and quality of life. She has focused particularly on Alzheimer’s Disease, Stroke, aiming to improve both assessments and interventions, particularly in African American patients and communities. Importantly, her work provides key, actionable lessons for clinical investigators across all disciplines to improve research participation, recruitment, and retention through community engagement.
Please join us for her research presentation, entitled “Recruitment and Retention of Individuals from Underrepresented Groups for Biomedical Research”
