Speaker(s): Ginette Okoye, MD
Dr. Okoye is Professor and Chair of Dermatology at Howard University. She completed her medical and clinical training at Columbia, Penn, and Yale Universities, with additional preceptorships in the UK. Prior to assuming the chair at Howard, she led clinical and research programs at Johns Hopkins University, where she developed and directed the Ethnic Skin Program. Her clinical efforts, translational research, community outreach, and mentorship have focused on skin, hair, and nail conditions affecting people with darker skin tones. Her research has spanned translational stages from elucidating basic mechanisms of disease, through improving treatment and prevention to address disparities in dermatologic disorders, their care, and outcomes.
