Speaker(s): Nawar Shara, PhD, Director of the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at MHRI
Dr. Shara directs the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at MedStar Health Research Institute and is founding director of the Biostatistics Epidemiology and Research Design Core in the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science. Her research, supported by NIH, federal and other extramural sponsors has focused on rigorous analyses of data from large and complex epidemiological studies, clinical trials, and electronic health records. As well, she leads clinical and translational research projects focused on health disparities, health services, and novel technologies. Her research spans translational stages, exemplifies interdisciplinary collaborative team science, and fosters collaborations between clinicians, trainees, quantitative, and translational scientists.
