Research Grand Rounds Presents: “Implementation of social risk factor screening and referral in maternal and infant health settings“
Sponsor: MHRI and GHUCCTS
Time: 12 - 1:00 PM
Location: Live Stream Only
Speaker(s): Hannah Arem, PhD
Dr. Hannah Arem serves as Scientific Director of Implementation Science at MedStar Health Research Institute and Associate Professor of Oncology at Georgetown. Informed by her pre and postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute, a AAAS policy fellowship at USAID, and her early faculty research at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health, Dr. Arem’s research brings implementation science methods to topics that include cancer survivorship, women's health, and maternal and infant mortality, seeking to understand not just what shows efficacy, but how interventions work in real-world practice and how context affects uptake and sustainability. Based on her broad efforts to leverage universal social risk factor screening to reduce health outcome disparities, her talk will focus screening implementation in maternal and infant care in the DC Safe Babies Safe Moms project. We hope that this presentation, highlighting application of implementation science methods to describe screening and referral delivery, may lead to new collaborations to address health disparities and inequities in the DC metropolitan region.
Research Grand Rounds are sponsored by the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS) and MedStar Health Research Institute to bring together our diverse clinical and research communities to share research that spans disciplines and stages of translation to improve individual and community health.
