The Graduate Student Awards are an annual program of awards sponsored by Office of Graduate Enrichment and co-sponsored by Biomedical Graduate Education, the Graduate Student Government, McCourt School of Public Policy, and McDonough School of Business recognizing excellence among graduate students at Georgetown University.

The Dr. Karen Gale Exceptional PhD Student Award is to recognizes a PhD Graduate Student who demonstrates a high level of excellence and expertise in their field. This can include academic and research achievements, excellence beyond course work, and commitment to their area of study. Awards are given to one student from each area: humanities, social sciences, and sciences and an at-large award.
